My research focuses in empirical work in various areas of Operations Management, including Service Operations Management, Supply Chain Management and Retail. In my research I have worked in collaboration with big box retail chains in the U.S. and Latin America, tech firms in te retail industry, a network of U.S. hospitals (Kaiser Permanente), and Chile’s central procurement office (ChileCompra).
I am currently Associate Editor for Management Science and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management. I am also co-director of the Institute of Complex Engineering Systems.
I teach undergraduate and MBA classes in Statistics and Operations Management at the University of Chile. As a visiting professor at Stanford and Columbia I have taught a doctoral course in empirical methods in Management Science. Prior to my current appointment I was Associate Professor at Columbia Business School, teaching MBA, MSc and PhD courses.
I have a PhD in Operations Management and M.A. in Statistics from The Wharton School in 2007. I did my undergraduate in Industrial Engineering at the University of Chile.
